INTAN JAYA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Tuesday, 8 October 2024.
The 509 Task Forces, especially the Koper Post led by Second Lieutenant Alvinta Sembiring, conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with residents of Balamai Village, Hitadipa District, while conducting areal protection tasks. This Komsos aims to foster trust and cooperation between the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the local community to support the Indonesian Government’s program of accelerating the development of the Papua region.

The Commander of 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs in the assigned area. Therefore, on Tuesday, the Soldiers took advantage of the protection tasks by interacting and communicating with Balamai residents. The interaction was followed by the 509 Task Forces distributing packages to the residents.
While maintaining their focus on security, the Soldiers took the opportunity to communicate in harmony with the people. The Koper Post distributed an agricultural sprayer in this communication. In response to the package’s distribution, one of the residents, Mario Japugau, expressed their profound gratitude by saying, "Thank you, Bapak Kasad, for the packages we received. God bless." This heartfelt response from the residents underscores the significant impact of the Army's efforts, highlighting the reassurance and security they provide in the assigned area.
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to communicate socially with the Balamai residents and the distribution of an agricultural sprayer. His words: "The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive social communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development, instilling profound hope and optimism about their potential to positively shape the region's future.
